Description
The fig tree belongs to the genus of ficus. It loses its leaves in the fall and sprouts again in the spring. It is known as Ficus carica because it is supposed to originate from Caria, southwestern Anatolia, in present-day Turkey.
Indication
It is a genuinely Mediterranean species. The energy intake comes from its natural sugars (glucose, fructose, sucrose). Its percentage of fat and protein is minimal. Regarding vitamins, vitamin K stands out and, in fresh figs, several of the B group, such as B1, B5 and B6.
Intake mode
It is recommended to eat without cooking. It is consumed as an aperitif or in the production of smoothies.
Storage conditions
Store at room temperature protected from the sun. Average life of 24 months, as long as the storage conditions are respected.
