Description
Douglas Red Yeast Rice Extract is Monascus purpureus red yeast fermented rice that helps maintain blood lipid levels.
Properties and benefits of Red Yeast Rice Extract
This supplement has in its formula active components that act similarly to statins, called monacolins, a series of substances that inhibit cholesterol synthesis. The European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) approved the claim that monacolin K (lovastatin) "contributes to maintaining normal cholesterol levels."
To obtain the beneficial effect on cholesterol, 10 mg of monacolin K is required per day. Each dose of Red Yeast Rice extract from Douglas Laboratories® provides a total of 10 mg of monacolin K since the active ingredient is standardized to 0.4%
Precautions
This product is not suitable for pregnant or lactating women, children and adolescents, people over the age of 70, with liver, muscle or kidney problems, who use interacting medications (eg cholesterol medication) and people with statin intolerance. If in doubt, please consult your healthcare professional.
