Neo's artichoke is a perennial plant in the Asteraceae family. Of Mediterranean origin, it is a cultivation mutation, which over the centuries has been divided from common tuberose. The active part of this plant is the leaf, which contains phenolic acids, mainly caffeilquinic acids, among which chlorogenic, cryptochlorogenic, neo-chlorogenic, and cinnarin (the main active substance) stand out; flavonoids and sesquiterpene lactones, among other active compounds.
Properties and benefits of Artichoke
Traditionally, the artichoke has been used in all the processes involved in digestion: Eupeptic action: favors proper digestion. Choleretic: increases the production of bile. Colagoga: promotes the expulsion of bile. Antiemetic: prevents nausea and vomiting. Appetizer: favors appetite. Its cholesterol and triglyceride lowering effect (and thus preventing the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis) has also been verified. Its hepatic protective action is combined with its antioxidant capacity against the free radicals of its natural polyphenols.
