Properties and benefits of Clove Essential Oil
The carnation is an evergreen tree, native to Madagascar, belonging to the Myrtaceae family. It grows from 8 to 20 m tall, with large leaves and regular flowers and 5 petals, grouped in terminal clusters. The flower buds are initially pale in color, gradually turn green, and change to bright red when ready for harvest. Flowers are harvested when they are 1.5 to 2 centimeters long. From these sprout the fruits, or cloves. The petals folded with the stamens, form its head. They must be picked by hand, before they open. Then they will be separated from its peduncle and then dried under the sunlight. For this reason, they have a dark brown hue.
It is a spice with a strong and rich aroma, and its flavor is spicy and bitter and leaves a cold sensation in the mouth, but when cooked it softens.
It provides an intense aroma and flavor to both sweet and savory dishes, so it should be used in small quantities so that it is pleasant and does not mask the flavors of the dish.
