Pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P5P) is the metabolically active coenzyme of vitamin B6. The body must convert vitamins B6 into pyridoxal and then transform it into its phosphorylated form (P5P) in the liver. This conversion is necessary, since P5P is the only way in which it can be used by enzymes that participate in biochemical processes, associated with protein and nitrogen metabolism and the synthesis of the heme group.

Precautions
