Description
Celnat Organic Green Split Peas are peas in a dry pea version. It separates into 2 during shelling, hence its name. Split peas make delicious mash or soup. Accompanied by brown rice and various cooked and spiced Indian vegetables (turmeric, cumin or garam massala) you will get a nutritious dish because it is balanced and provided with complete proteins. They are rich in protein and have less fiber (-50% compared to the average of other legumes).
Indication
The term "peas" first appeared in the French language in the 12th century. Its main crop is thought to come from Central Asia, but it is also believed to have been cultivated in the Near East, the Mediterranean basin and Ethiopia.
Split peas can also be used for the preparation of croquettes or gratins with cereals and vegetables.
Intake mode
It is recommended to soak the peas for at least 1 hour. Cook 45 min over low heat in 2.5 times its volume of salted water. (To facilitate their digestion, add a few grains of cumin, green anise or fennel or a little Kombou seaweed to the cooking water).
Storage conditions
Store in a dry place, away from moisture and direct light.
