What is Buckwheat?
Naturitas Organic Gluten-Free Buckwheat is a gluten-free, fiber-rich seed from organic farming.
Buckwheat or buckwheat, despite being considered a cereal, is actually a seed native to Northeast Asia.
It is rich in fiber having a satiating effect and helping to regulate appetite. It also contains numerous nutrients such as B vitamins, lysine and arginine amino acids and is rich in minerals such as manganese, copper, magnesium and phosphorus, making it ideal for vegetarian or vegan diets.

How to cook buckwheat?
Buckwheat can be cooked with several techniques:
- Boiled : it begins with a previous washing and a light dry roasting, over high heat and stirring. Then add 2-3 cups of water for every cup of grain. Bring to a boil, lower the heat, and cook for about 20 minutes until the water is absorbed.
- Steamed : with this technique it is very loose. The grain can be spread with a little oil so that the thyme or bay leaf mixes with the steam and remains subtly impregnated in the cereal.
- Hydrated : it can be hydrated by leaving it for about 12 hours with water (with a proportion of one measure of water per average of cereal) and then cook it with a little more water (one more proportion) for 10 minutes.
Cooking with Buckwheat
Buckwheat has great versatility in the kitchen:
- Stews : the grain is cooked to prepare traditional stews or polenta.
- Sauces : it can be used as a fat substitute and thickener, since 70% of the grain is starch and its mucilages are ideal for obtaining textured sauces. In these cases, the best are flour or grain.
- Crepes or breads : you can use buckwheat flour or directly the whole grain.
Precautions
May contain traces of nuts, peanuts, soybeans, sesame and milk and its derivatives.
Storage conditions
Store in a cool and dry place. Close the container well after use.
