Siberian cedar covers thousands of hectares of wild forest, far from any human industrial or agricultural activity. Harvested in remote regions, in grandiose landscapes, "cedar apples" considered "the gold of the Taiga" are popular in Russia for their sweet pine flavor. They take several years to mature and produce their seed, a real concentrate of taste and nutritional richness. The cedar apple harvesters move on horseback in sites impassable to other means of transport. Their seasonal harvest is supervised by a company in charge of selection, packaging and export, which provides additional income for dozens of families often living as trappers in difficult climatic conditions.
