Properties and benefits of Nettle
The nettle (Urtica dioica) is a herbaceous plant of the Urticaceae family originating in Eurasia, which grows in uncultivated places and in humid environments.
Nettle leaves, flowers, roots and rhizomes have numerous uses, due to their different chemical components. In particular, the dried roots and rhizomes contain compounds with interesting physiological activities, among which sterols (fatty substances of vegetable origin), but also scopoletin, lignans and flavonoids stand out.
Clinical studies suggest the use of nettle to improve prostate activity and to regulate the consequent urination disorders.
Nettle is also widely used, alone or in association with other herbs, as a diuretic and anti-inflammatory for some rheumatic disorders.
